The Adidas commercial is a tribute to Messi and his five participations in the World Cups.
How lucky we are to be able to experience another publicity duel of these magnitudes. And it is that the great rivalries are never lost and less if there is a World Cup event involved.
Not long ago, Nike’s commercial revolutionized the networks with its vision of the “Footballverse” and the recreation with DeepFake of the great historical stars of the brand. Now Adidas answers by replicating the five versions that have participated in a World Cup of its most precious star: Leo Messi.
“The Impossible Rondo” is the title of the Adidas commercial for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. When Nike launched its “Footballverse” campaign, we already remembered that the idea drew heavily on that mythical Adidas commercial: Jose+10 in which the big names came together all-time figures in a neighborhood game.
Now Adidas has wanted to evolve the formula and incidentally pay tribute to Leo Messi. And it is that the Argentine star has added five participations in a World Cup since he debuted in the World Cup in Germany in 2006. To celebrate it, he wanted to bring together all the versions of the player in a very special round.
Thus, we can see several representations of the Argentine marked by the look and shirts of the different World Cup events in which he has participated: Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018, to which Messi of Qatar 2022 joins them. .
The Adidas commercial uses “DeepFake” technology just like they have done in the Nike campaign. While the result could be more effective, the feeling of having different versions of the player on the same pitch is very realistic.
The final touch of the Adidas campaign is the song “Live is life” which is recognized worldwide in the soccer universe for being the soundtrack of that legendary Diego Maradona warm-up.
