The Chinese New Year is celebrated on the day when the new moon coincides in the middle of the winter solstice and the spring solstice. It is usually celebrated in the first days of February. This year it is February 1st and it will be the year of the Water Tiger.
As usual, Apple celebrates a special campaign to celebrate this anniversary and has carried out an advertising campaign according to the importance of the new Chinese Year.
“The Comeback” is the title of Apple’s commercial to celebrate the Chinese New Year. It has been created by the TBWA Media Arts Lab in Shanghai and directed by Chinese filmmaker Zhang Meng. It is a 23-minute short film where we will learn the story of a little boy who dreams of directing movies.
The protagonist works as a stunt double in the cinema and when he returns to his town to celebrate the New Year, his neighbors receive him as if he were a great director. His father convinces him that he should make a movie to make the town famous on the internet and to attract tourists. Thus, the story continues and a series of events are unleashed that combine elements of different genres. Thus, we see a mixture of special adventures, Kung Fu movies and comedy.
Apple’s commercial has been shot entirely with an iPhone13 Pro and is part of the “Shot on iPhone” campaign. Apple has also made a making off of the campaign showing details about the entire creation process.
