The passionate kiss between Burger King and McDonald’s for Helsinki Pride day.
Many times we have spoken in the advertising agency telling about the different advertising strategies of Burger King and McDonald’s. Burger King uses a more hooligan tactic by attacking McDonald’s while it tries to go its own advertising path.
But this time the Burger King campaign has decided to give love to its competitor on the occasion of Pride week in Helsinki.
Pride week in Helsinki is usually celebrated in the last week of June but due to COVID-19 it was postponed until late summer. Burger King is one of the sponsoring brands of the event and has wanted to shake up the advertising community a bit and generate media noise.
For this he has made a painting that is called “Love conquers all”. In it we see a passionate kiss between the pets of Burger King and McDonald’s.
The work has been created by TBWA \ Helsinki in an outdoor advertising campaign by the Finnish city. According to Kaisa Kasila, manager of Burger King Finland: “Burger King has always stood for equality, love and everyone’s right to be who they are. Our brand is always daring and fun. So showing this ‘impossible kiss’ is a way to show that love conquers all. And we hope the competition understands that it is actually a celebration of love rather than a competitive statement. ”
