The Peugeot commercial is a funny and endearing story of a security camera reminiscent of Pixar.
Car ads have long since reached their creative zenith. What was once a fertile ground to make the best of creativity flourish; Now it is a minefield that suffers from always repeating the same thing.
With honorable exceptions such as the Volkswagen commercial to present its new SUVs or the FIAT campaign. Companies have embraced the paradigm shift provided by electrification to change their communication strategies.
“Drawn by attracion” is the title of the Peugeot commercial made by the Parisian agency Open and produced by Movie Magic International. The piece tells us a love story between a street security camera and the new Peugeot 308; and how it follows the vehicle throughout the city, interacting with people, animals and other urban elements.
The piece has been animated by The Mill studio and they have given the protagonist a personality reminiscent of the famous Pixar camera. According to Mickael Girod, head of The Mill: “From the first moment I was attracted by the technical challenges that the production posed to us. Looking for visual references we immediately looked at the Pixar classics. We wanted an emotional and friendly camera, with a slightly worn look but It didn’t look dirty or outdated. I think we were able to bring life and character to the camera without making it look like a cartoon.”
