Coca-Cola brings back the “Share a Coke” campaign to connect with new generations.
It has been a long time since Coca-Cola launched one of the most celebrated campaigns in history back in 2011. It was the first to use its packaging as a communication tool by printing people’s names on it. This initiative led to a 7% increase in Coca-Cola consumption, selling more than 150 million cans and bottles.
Now, Coca-Cola is reviving the campaign to adapt it to new generations. The 2025 “Share a Coke” edition brings back names on bottles and encourages consumers to put aside whatever they are doing to reconnect and share a Coca-Cola.
“Share a Coke” is the title of the Coca-Cola campaign created by Open X agency. This is a reissue of the acclaimed campaign originally launched in Australia in 2011. This time, the goal is to engage Generation Z by introducing new cans with 175 names and nicknames.
To achieve this, a 45-second commercial has been produced and will be aired on television and various online platforms. The brand has highlighted three key strategic elements of the campaign: personalization, a “social-first” approach, and experiential marketing.
According to Islam ElDessouky, Global VP, Creative at Coca-Cola: “The ‘Share a Coke’ campaign is not solely about ‘likes’ and ‘shares’; it actually focuses on real moments that deserve to be remembered. As part of the campaign, we have developed experiences to help people strengthen their relationships through genuine and everyday moments.”
