“Not Going Back” is the title of the fun Volkswagen commercial that reflects the quality of the finishes in its models.

Irony is usually a common resource in advertising campaigns. It usually works very well and allows the viewer to understand the context of the creativity.

This is the case of Volkswagen’s latest advertising campaign that, to present its new Volkswagen Taos model; offers us some hilarious scenes where exaggeration and irony are the premises of the story.

“No Going Back” is the title of the Volkswagen commercial created by the agency Johannes Leonardo, produced by Smuggler and directed by Björn Rühmann. The piece highlights the qualities of the brand’s new SUV, the Volkswagen Taos.

During the scene we accompany a woman who does not seem to feel comfortable anywhere she sits. Chairs, sofas or armchairs seem uncomfortable to her, she is looking for the right point where she feels comfortable. In the cinema, the office or at the psychologist, there is no place where she is comfortable. She even goes to buy her own chair from a specialized site and still, she can’t find any.

It is not until the end that Volkswagen’s announcement reveals the truth. You will not be as comfortable as inside the Volkswagen vehicle. According to Jonathan Santana, executive creative director of Johannes Leonardo: “Our goal was to tell a compelling story about how quality unfortunately does not apply to everything we seek. And once you have experienced the level of quality that Volkswagen is capable of providing, it is really difficult to go back.”

For her part, Rachael Zaluzec, senior VP of customer experience & marketing at Volkswagen: “Our customers should not have to sacrifice quality in any way, regardless of the vehicle they are driving. This campaign speaks for quality, comfort and value of our SUV.”
