Volvo’s commercial is an emotional story about the confidence that comes from being safe.

Electric cars are giving brands an opportunity to reset their corporate image. Combustion cars are coming to an end and car companies are striving to launch their electric models and thus be able to sell you a greener future.

This is the case of the new Audi campaigns with emerging players such as Janelle Monáe or BMW with its new “Forwardism” concept. Now it’s Volvo’s turn, which opts for a more classic campaign to announce its new electric model.

“When you feel safe, you can be truly free” is the title of the Volvo commercial created by the agency AKQA and Grey. It is launched on the occasion of the arrival on the market of the new electric SUV, the Volvo EX90. And the question that the brand asks us is: How do we feel it can affect our way of driving?

If there is something that defines Volvo, it is undoubtedly safety. They have been innovating in this area for more than 95 years, and their vision is to reduce fatalities in accidents to zero. Now, under its “For Life” platform, it wants to provide the driver with security from the angle of psychology.

In the Volvo ad we see a collection of everyday moments that give us confidence. Among the protagonists we find the pop star Seinabo Sey, the Paralympic athlete Lui Cuiqing and the professional skateboarder Sky Brown. They are all part of the global campaign that explores the stories of each individual.

The company has created a platform where drivers are invited to share how their moods affect the way they drive. With this data, Volvo wants to collect information about our driving behavior in order to provide us with new solutions in the future.
