The funny Uber Eats advert starring Matthew McConaughey
The advertising campaign was designed by the agency Special U.S.

The Uber Eats ad starring the famous actor kicks off the start of the NFL season.
The NFL regular season is usually very short in time compared to other leagues such as the NBA or football. This competition lasts 18 weeks and then the playoffs are played, which culminate with the Super Bowl, one of the most watched events on the planet.
Each game is an event in many homes, where families gather to watch their team and eat together. That’s why Uber Eats is one of the official partners of the NFL and has launched this fun advertising campaign starring Matthew McConaughey.
“Football is for food” is the title of the Uber Eats advert starring actor Matthew McConaughey and Francisco 49ers player Christian McCaffrey. It was made by the agency Special U.S. and is the first in a campaign to promote Uber Eats’ “Game Deals.”
In the piece we see how the actor and the player are watching a football game, while McConaughey spreads the conspiracy theory to answer his partner’s question: “Why am I still hungry?”
Matthew McConaughey has a theory, and to prove it he lists some slang used in American football, with clear references to food. McCaffrey is not entirely convinced of the surreal theory until he sees former American football player Jerry Rice eat a container of fried rice.
According to Georgie Jeffreys, Marketing Director at Uber Eats: “Our new campaign is a fun reinterpretation of this absurd theory and highlights how Uber Eats connects football fans with their favourite food through its app. Matthew McConaughey is a huge football fan and was the perfect person to give voice to the connection between football and food.”
