The Amazon Books advert wants to literally immerse us in our books.
Reading is undoubtedly one of the most gratifying pleasures we have today. Those who love to read are lucky enough to be transported to other worlds in an instant.
And that very emotion is what Amazon Books wanted to capture in its latest advertising campaign. The Amazon subsidiary dedicated to books seeks to highlight the power of imagination as the driving force of the literary experience.
Amazon Books: “Bring a Book to Life”
“Bring a Book to Life” is the title of the Amazon Books advert created by the agency Droga5, produced by Biscuit Filmworks and directed by Steve Rogers.
The campaign dramatizes the magical moment when someone opens a book. The piece shows us various scenes frozen in time, and how they come to life when someone sits down to read. A samurai tale in Japan, romantic twists in a Berlin train station, or murders in a British mansion. Each story remains frozen until the reader arrives.
The Amazon Books advert highlights those books that not only tell stories but also involve the reader in completing them. Only when someone reads them do the words transform into situations, images, sounds, and unforgettable moments.
According to Josh Fein, Global Head of Marketing at Amazon Books: “The campaign celebrates the magical collaboration between readers and authors. Every unopened book is a universe waiting to come to life, where readers turn words into vivid landscapes, complex characters, and unforgettable moments. We invite you to join this journey of discovery, where your next literary adventure is just a page away.”
Meanwhile, Larry Seftel, Creative Director at Droga5 London, adds: “Books are nothing without readers. An author may have an idea of how their characters look and sound, but when we read, we create our own worlds—no two exactly alike. There’s no other art form quite like this, and our campaign celebrates that truth.”
