Asda’s Christmas advert reinvents the Grinch for a more affordable holiday season.

Asda – “A Very Merry Grinchmas”

The Asda Christmas advert is titled “A Very Merry Grinchmas” and was created by the agency Lucky Generals.

The spot opens with the Grinch arriving at an Asda supermarket, visibly irritated by the festive atmosphere. However, his usual cynicism begins to fade as he discovers the store’s deals and low prices. From sweets to gifts, the Grinch slowly lets himself be won over by the Christmas spirit — and by the discounts.

The tone is light-hearted, humorous, and unmistakably British, with a satirical touch that fits perfectly with the character’s personality. Instead of having his heart changed by the magic of Christmas, the Grinch is transformed by Asda’s value-for-money philosophy — proving that even the grumpiest character can enjoy Christmas when the prices are right.

According to the agency, in a statement: “The Grinch perfectly embodies the contradictory spirit of modern Christmas: we all want to enjoy it, but we also want to be sensible with spending. He was the ideal character to show how Asda can make even the most reluctant shoppers happy with their Christmas purchases.”

Asda commented: “We wanted to create a fun story that reminds people that Christmas doesn’t have to be stressful or expensive. At Asda, we remain committed to offering the best quality at the best price — and this advert celebrates that with a touch of humour.”
