Ikea Advert - Coming Home

The Ikea advert shows the emotional connection we feel with our home.

Few brands have managed to build such an emotional relationship with the concept of home as Ikea. Over the years, the Swedish company has shown that its advertising campaigns are not only about furniture or decoration, but about the stories that happen around them.

From everyday family moments to small moments of intimacy, Ikea has managed to capture how the spaces we live in influence our daily lives. Now the brand once again focuses on that emotional connection with a new global campaign that celebrates something as simple as it is powerful: the feeling of coming home.

Ikea – Coming Home

The Ikea advert is titled “Coming Home” and was created by the brand’s in-house creative team together with the agency McCann. The piece was directed by Justyna Obasi through the production company Anorak Film and serves as the central element of the new global campaign.

The piece shows different scenes featuring people from various parts of the world. All of them share the same narrative thread: the journey back home. Throughout the advert we see small moments that reflect the anticipation before arriving: trips on public transport, tired looks after a long day, or the contained emotion of someone about to walk through their front door.

The Ikea advert does not focus on a specific product, but rather on the emotions that home evokes. Set to the song “Home Again” by Carole King, performed by Lucy Dacus, the brand highlights how its solutions help transform a house into that special place that acts as a personal and emotional refuge.

According to Vincenzo Riili, Global Marketing Director at Ikea: “We are committed to creating a better everyday life for the many, and we hope the film inspires people to create spaces that support what matters most, in a way that is accessible to everyone.”

Meanwhile, Jim Nilsson and Jacob Gjelstrup Björdal, creative directors at McCann London, said: “Home is more than a place; it is a feeling like no other. By following people on their way back home, we wanted to show the moments that truly matter and the role Ikea plays in bringing that feeling to life.”
