Nestlé’s unforgettable recipes that help Alzheimer’s patients
The Publicis agency is in charge of the advertising action

Nestlé recipes are used to unlock memories in people with Alzheimer’s.
Alzheimer’s is a brain disorder that destroys memory and the ability to think and, over time, the ability to carry out the simplest tasks. More than 55 million people are affected around the world and researchers continue to decipher how it works.
It has been the case that both music and food can help recover certain memories. Nestlé wanted to do its part with an experiment called “Unforgettable Recipes” where they recreate old recipes.
“Unforgettable Recipes” is the title of the experiment that Nestlé has carried out in Brazil. It was made by the Publicis agency, produced by 02 Filmes and directed by Fred Luz. Chef Carol Aburquerque was in charge of making the recipes.
The old Nestlé recipes were extracted from notes written by the protagonists, as well as interviews with their families. The chef was in charge of recreating these dishes and making them look as similar as possible to those they ate as children.
Thus, dishes such as salt cod, sarapatel, ball tart or bean pie were prepared. When the protagonists eat them, their memories begin to emerge again.
According to Ionah Kochen, vice president of marketing and communications at Nestlé: “The campaign highlights the power of recipes to establish deep connections between people, relive memories and emotions and forge experiences that last a lifetime. Our campaign also reinforces the purpose of Nestlé recipes, which have been connecting people through food for more than 60 years.”
According to Mauro Ramalho, chief creative officer of Publicis Brazil: “This campaign helps raise awareness about a problem that is part of the reality of thousands of Brazilians and that deserves much more attention from the public.”
All of these recipes are available on the Nestlé recipe website so that everyone can make them at home.
