Norwich City’s commercial is a poignant piece to warn us to be aware of those around us.
When you see that traditional advertising shows signs of exhaustion, a new idea always arrives that changes everything. A creativity that connects with people and amplifies the message it wants to give to stir feelings. They are drops in the desert, which we collect under the category of hidden gems of advertising.
This is the case of the Norwich City commercial, a club in the English second division. To commemorate World Mental Health Day, he has launched a spot that has gone viral around the world.

Norwich City’s commercial wants to raise awareness about mental health. And it does so by closing the focus on two fans who go every weekend to watch their games. One more reserved, another more effusive. They both enjoy, suffer, are happy or angry depending on what the team does and the season progresses.
The body language gives us the impression that one of the fans is presumably sadder than the other. Game by game they start small conversations of this type and form a small relationship, coming to care about each other.
Norwich City’s commercial ends with one of the two fans dying due to Mental Health problems. And it ends with a message: “Sometimes, it can be obvious when someone is struggling to get ahead. But sometimes, the signs are harder to detect. Check in on those around you” closing with the hashtag #YouAreNotAlone.
Norwich City’s campaign has generated positive comments from all walks of life, from fans to professional athletes. Other clubs have also joined the initiative to visualize the problems caused by mental health.
