Pepsi’s ad to celebrate the start of the NFL season brings us back to the legendary campaign that launched 20 years ago.

Pepsi’s “We Will Rock You” advert is undoubtedly one of the greatest campaigns in history. Released in 2004 and starring the biggest stars of the moment, Britney Spears, Béyonce and Pink, the campaign took advantage of the Roman Empire fever following the famous film Gladiator.

Now, to celebrate the release of “Gladiator II,” Pepsi has brought back the theme with another colossal campaign to mark the start of the NFL season.

“Make Your Gameday Epic” is the title of the Pepsi advert produced by the agency RSA Films for the start of the NFL season in the United States. The brand celebrates both the start of the season and the release of the film Gladiator II.

This time around, the campaign doesn’t bring together the biggest female pop icons, but instead features artist Megan Thee Stallion as Empress Megan leading NFL superstars turned Gladiators. Josh Allen, Derrick Henry, Justin Jefferson and Travis Kelce will engage in an epic battle in the center of the Roman Colosseum.

The chords of The Queen’s famous song “We Will Rock You” are heard in a new song by the American singer. This new song is now available on all streaming platforms.

Pepsi Campaign – We Will Rock You

Megan Thee Stallion commented in a statement about the campaign: “I am honored to be a part of this campaign that debuted 20 years ago and proud to have forged my own legacy. Pepsi has brought together the worlds of music, sports and entertainment in a powerful way to kick off the new NFL season. It was fun to put my creative spin on such an iconic Queen song and I can’t wait for you all to hear it.”

Jake Scott commented: “Bringing the epic world of Gladiator II to life in a modern and dynamic way through this Pepsi campaign was incredibly exciting. We wanted to create a visual spectacle that captured the energy and intensity of the sport whilst also paying homage to the iconic film and the original Pepsi campaign. The collaboration with Pepsi and the incredible talent involved made this project truly unforgettable.”
