Uber Eats’ Super Bowl advert takes Cher back to the 16th century, 1880s.

Brands are already launching their Super Bowl advertising campaigns. After Hellmann’s brought Harry and Sally together to recreate the famous orgasm from the movie, Uber Eats is now taking Cher back to the 80s.

The food delivery brand is a fixture at the Super Bowl, the event where it generates the most orders of the year. And this year it has decided to take Cher back to the 80s… but in the 16th century.

“Is Cher a Witch?”

is the title of the Uber Eats Super Bowl advert made by the agency Special Australia. The brand has launched this advertising campaign to emphasize that, despite bringing almost everything, I can’t bring literally everything.

Under this premise, the Uber Eats advert presents Cher in her home, with one of her most iconic songs, “If I Could Turn Back Time,” playing in the background. The artist remembers the great moments she lived in the 80s to order a time machine through Uber Eats.

Once in her possession, Cher asks to go back to the 80s, but by mistake she finds herself in the 80s… but in 1600. Thus, the singer lands in a medieval town where witch hunts are the order of the day, and appearing dressed in current clothes does Cher no favors.

According to the artist, in a statement: “I get approached to film commercials all the time, but the creativity and fun of the Uber ad immediately captivated me. I’m so proud of the end result.”

Meanwhile, Channa Goonasekara, brand lead for Uber Eats in Australia and New Zealand, commented: “There’s no one in the entertainment world who projects more sparkle and power than Cher. And that’s why we decided to reach out to her to resurrect one of her most nostalgic songs and one of her most iconic outfits in our latest campaign.”
