The Volkswagen advert introduces us to Maxine, an indecisive man caught in various situations.
The trademarks of Volkswagen’s campaigns are clear—they skillfully combine functionality, relatability, and humor with a very distinctive tone. Clear examples include “Let’s go for a drive” or “Not going back”.
Now, the brand launches a fun new campaign in France introducing us to Maxine, the most indecisive man in the world. An advert that reminds us that, in a world full of options, making a simple decision can be incredibly liberating.
Volkswagen – Maxine’s Saga
“Maxine’s Saga” is the title of the Volkswagen advert created by the DDB Paris agency, produced by Dummy, and directed by Harold Einstein.
The spot introduces us to Maxine, a man who is terrified of making any decision. Since he was a child, choosing has filled him with fear—whether it’s picking a card in a magician’s act or choosing lunch at school. This fear has followed him into adulthood, turning even joyful activities like playing football into stressful ordeals. But sometimes, not everything is overwhelming—like when it’s time to choose a car. At last, Maxine doesn’t have to decide.
According to Alexander Kalchev, Chief Creative Officer and CEO of DDB Paris: “Volkswagen is a brand that has always been known for offering people options. In the case of poor Maxine, a hopelessly indecisive man, choosing a car is, thanks to Volkswagen, the one situation where making a decision becomes easy. Whether you’re like Maxine, lost in a sea of choices, or already know what you want, we hope the new Volkswagen campaign makes you smile.”
