Apple’s advert celebrates creativity: “Great Ideas Start on a Mac”
TBWA Media Arts Lab agency signs the new spot narrated by Jane Goodall

The Apple Advert is an ode to the blank canvas narrated by Jane Goodall.
If there’s something Apple has mastered, it’s positioning itself as a driving force that enables people to move the world. One of those people was Jane Goodall, the English ethologist and pioneer in chimpanzee research for more than sixty years, who passed away earlier this year.
The Cupertino brand pays tribute to the ideas yet to come — to that blank canvas that every creative faces before their big idea takes shape. And Apple proudly claims that many of those moments happen in front of a Mac.
Apple – Great Ideas Start on a Mac
The Apple Advert is titled “Great Ideas Start on a Mac” and was created by the agency TBWA\Media Arts Lab, produced by MJZ and directed by Mike Mills. The piece premiered as part of a new global campaign focused on Mac computers, featuring the unmistakable voice of Jane Goodall, the renowned primatologist who passed away on October 1.
The Apple Advert opens with a simple yet powerful image: a blinking cursor on a blank screen. From there, the story immerses us in different creative processes of musicians, scientists, designers, and activists — all connected by the same thread: the moment when an idea begins to take shape.
Among the protagonists are Bruce Strickrott, an oceanographic engineer who has been using Macs since the 1990s to share his discoveries about the ocean floor; Ruchika Sachdeva, an Indian designer who fuses traditional craftsmanship with contemporary fashion; and Alice Wong, founder of the Disability Visibility Project. Also featured are members of the robotics team from 1X Technologies, designing humanoids that give people back their time and humanity.
The tone of the ad is introspective and poetic. The music by Emile Mosseri delicately accompanies the visuals, while Jane Goodall’s voice brings a deep sense of calm, evoking the mystery that surrounds the creative process.
According to Tor Myhren, Apple’s VP of Marketing Communications: “This campaign celebrates the hardest and most mysterious part of a great idea: its origin. It’s amazing how many of the world’s greatest ideas started on a Mac. This spot celebrates those ideas and all who strive to make the most of their creativity.”
