Adidas advert for the Euro Cup and the English team: “Hey Jude”

The Adidas advert encourages the English team to pick themselves up after defeats with “Hey Jude”.

Major international competitions bring out the feelings of the most die-hard fans. But if there is a country that has suffered tough defeats and that, despite its football importance, has not won major titles, it is England.

And precisely, the willingness to get up again to try again is the leiv motiv of the Adidas advert. The German brand cheers on the English team to the rhythm of “Hey Jude”, the popular Beatles song that refers to the country’s new star: Jude Bellingham.

“Hey Jude” is the title of the Adidas advert for Euro 2024. It was made by the Johannes Leonardo agency and directed by British filmmaker Greg Hackett. The brand takes advantage of the rising trend of one of its biggest stars to give it all the spotlight: Jude Bellingham.

The entire piece moves to the rhythm of the popular Beatles song “Hey Jude” and which has become an anthem when fans want to chant for their idol on the field. Adidas take advantage of and uses the lyrics of the song “Take a sad song and make it better” to draw a parallel with the English team and its disagreements in major tournaments.

And the English team only has one Euro Cup, won in 1966. Very little considering the capital importance of the English in world football. During all this time he has only experienced disappointments in every major event.

With this announcement we wanted to inspire athletes and fans alike to follow the example of Jude and his colleagues, overcome the pressure and spur their love for this beautiful sport.”
