Aldi’s Christmas commercial introduces us to the Ebanana Scrooge

Anuncio de Navidad de Aldi | A Christmas Carrot

Aldi’s Christmas commercial this year dispenses with Kevin the Carrot to introduce us to a banana.

If there is a character that is characteristic of the Christmas commercials, that is without a doubt Kevin The Carrot. The popular carrot star in all of Aldi’s Christmas commercials has been relegated to introduce us to a new character.

The brand has already hinted that this year it could not appear in the Christmas parties, with a teaser starring a banana. Instantly, many users claimed the presence of Kevin The Carrot using hashtags #NoKevinNoChristmas, #BringBackKevin.

Christmas Carrot, Aldi’s Christmas commercial

The Aldi Christmas advert is inspired by the story of “A Christmas Carol” written by Charles Dickens and published in 1843. The agency in charge has been McCann UK and is presented under the title “A Christmas Carrot”. As is usual, the brand’s fresh products are the protagonists.

Ebanana Scrooge is a greedy and evil banana who walks the streets despising everyone. Luckily, the carrot appears as the ghost of Christmas to remind him that it is necessary to be kind and supportive of our own.

Among the characters stands out the presence of the beet Marcus Radishford, who has been voiced by Manchester United player Marcus Rashford. The player, who was decorated by the Duke of Cambridge for his campaigns to support children in vulnerable situations, commented: “My family used the local food bank to get our Christmas dinner. To this day, I remember queuing outside that building with my mother, embarrassed to be recognized. With that in mind, I am delighted to support the Aldi campaign. For many children in situations like mine, growing up there are very few expectations at this time of year; If the impact of the pandemic is added to that, the least they deserve is a Christmas dinner. “

According to Sean McGinty, Marketing Director at Aldi UK: “Christmas is a time of hope and we are privileged to work with Marcus, one of the UK’s most inspiring young people, who has done so much in the last 18 months to help provide free school meals for children.”
