The Cadbury advert is a moving story between two sisters that highlights the small gestures that connect us.

If there is one brand that knows how to pull at the heartstrings, it is without a doubt Cadbury. Many people still remember the iconic advert titled “Mum’s Birthday”, which raised expectations for every new campaign from the brand.

Now it has launched its latest advert, titled “Homesick”. A return to its roots with a simple, relatable story full of emotional impact. The brand presents a narrative that appeals to the feeling of home through a gesture as simple as sharing a chocolate bar.

Cadbury – Homesick

The Cadbury advert is titled “Homesick” and has been created by the agency VCCP and directed by Steve Rogers. The brand launches a new piece within its global platform, focused on the small gestures that connect us.

The film tells the story of two sisters separated by more than 6,000 kilometres. The older sister lives in Kuala Lumpur and, after a call home, receives an unexpected envelope from her home country.

Inside, she finds a bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk, her favourite chocolate. But the detail that gives meaning to the whole story comes when she discovers that a piece is missing: her younger sister couldn’t resist and took a bite before sending it, sealing the wrapper with a childlike sticker.

This imperfect, almost mischievous gesture is precisely the essence of the Cadbury advert. A simple action becomes a powerful metaphor for real generosity: it isn’t always perfect, but it is authentic. The advert blends tenderness with a subtle sense of humour to remind us that, when we are far from home, even the smallest acts can carry enormous emotional value.

According to Elise Burditt, Senior Marketing Director at Cadbury UK: “Cadbury has always been about the humanity in all of us. This campaign shows that generosity isn’t about getting things perfect, but about being thoughtful. Even a chocolate bar with a piece missing can convey the warmth of home.”

Meanwhile, Chris Birch and Jonathan Parker, Chief Creative Officers at VCCP, explain: “Sometimes it’s the small, slightly cheeky gestures that stay with us the longest. ‘Homesick’ continues to celebrate an authentic, unpolished generosity, like when your sister steals a piece of chocolate from the other side of the world.”
