E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial has undoubtedly been a source of inspiration throughout the history of cinema. And it continues to be so 35 years later with constant homages and references. The latest? Citroën’s advert to present its new electric model: the Citroën ë-C4.

The campaign presents us with an endearing alien who must be taken back to his spaceship. Aboard the brand new Citroën, a spectacular chase will take place to prevent the alien from being taken back to his planet.

“The Alien” is the title of the Citroën advert made by the agency BETC Paris and produced by Very Content. The campaign was made to present the new electric model Citroën ë-C4.

The piece shows us how a woman risks everything to try to save a small alien who looks like a mix of E.T. and Baby Yoda. All to try to take him back to the ship that brought him to Earth.

This is when a fast-paced chase begins to prevent the alien from returning home and losing a unique specimen. Helicopters and government cars will put the protagonists in check before the final twist when, before saying goodbye, the alien changes places with the woman to keep the car.

According to Federico Goyret, CMO of Citroën: “In the ad we wanted to capture the essence of science fiction cinema and simultaneously play on the viewer’s emotions. The viewer sees the wonderful, almost maternal relationship that develops between the protagonists, and just when it seems that the viewer already knows where the story is heading, the adorable alien betrays the human who has helped him completely selflessly. The ending is as heartbreaking as it is hilarious.”
