Coca-Cola’s Christmas advert creates controversy as it was created with AI
The brand has remade its classic ads with artificial intelligence

The brand has taken advantage of the use of artificial intelligence to remake three of its most classic Christmas ads.
If there is one technology that has taken hold this year among all of us, it is undoubtedly artificial intelligence. A technology that we still need to regulate and use in the most sustainable way possible to avoid putting many jobs at risk.
But that does not mean that brands do not experiment with it, especially if it represents a significant cost saving. What we did not expect is that a brand as powerful as Coca-Cola would decide to test it in the Christmas campaign. And the brand has remade its most classic Christmas ads with artificial intelligence.
“Holidays Are coming (AI generated)” is the title of Coca-Cola’s 2024 Christmas advert made with artificial intelligence. Three agencies participated: Secret Level, Silverside and Wild Card. Each one worked with a classic advert from the brand to remake it with artificial intelligence.
Coca-Cola Christmas Advert 2024 – Silver Santa
Coca-Cola’s first Christmas advert for 2024 is the classic Coca-Cola truck advert, which travels from the North Pole to every city to spread the Christmas spirit. An exercise in realism that shows us that artificial intelligence can replace many of the classic special effects. By eliminating the need for expensive filming in snowy locations, the brand has taken advantage of the opportunity to create moving images in record time.
Criticism was not expected and many users have attacked the brand for its lack of soul when the brand has been selling its “Real Magic” concept for the past few years. Criticism also extends to the use of artificial intelligence by brands to save costs and personnel.
Below are the two other Coca-Cola Christmas ads generated with artificial intelligence: “Secret Santa” and “Unexpected Santa.”
