Disney’s Christmas advert tells the story of a doodle looking for a mouth.

If there’s one company that captures all the emotions of Christmas, it’s undoubtedly Disney. Every year, the entertainment giant delights us with a festive story crafted by its creative team.

This time, they present a short film titled “Best Christmas Ever”, where a little girl’s doodle comes to life and goes on a quest to find a mouth so it can express itself. A story full of imagination and heart — exactly what we’ve come to expect from Disney.

Disney – Best Christmas Ever

The Disney Christmas advert is titled “Best Christmas Ever” and was created by the agency Adam & Eve/DDB. It was directed by filmmaker Taika Waititi in collaboration with Hungry Man and Untold Studios.

The story begins with Molly, a young girl who, while writing her letter to Santa Claus, doodles a small, lively character. Without realising, she tears the page out and places it on the fireplace mantel, unaware that the doodle has gone with it. On Christmas morning, Molly discovers one of her presents is moving… and out pops a larger version of her own doodle, voiced by John Goodman.

The cheerful character tries to say hello but soon realises he doesn’t have a mouth. Throughout the year, the film shows how the two enjoy their friendship, while little Doodle becomes frustrated by not being able to talk, eat ice cream or sing Christmas carols.

According to Joanna Balikian, Senior Vice President of Brand Management at Disney: “Disney stories have always been a source of togetherness, wonder and joy, especially at Christmas. With A Disney holiday short: Best Christmas Ever, we wanted to capture that timeless spirit of friendship, family and imagination that brings generations together and makes the holidays magical.”

Meanwhile, Taika Waititi said: “What makes this story so uniquely Disney is that it’s set in a child’s world. It’s about a girl and her new best friend, navigating life together with the power of friendship and imagination.”
