Ikea’s Christmas advert featuring a dachshund
The advertising campaign was carried out by VML Warsaw agency

Ikea’s Christmas advert shows us the warmth and nostalgia of Christmas moments.
The Christmas adverts keep coming out and it’s time for one of the most anticipated: the Ikea Christmas advert. The Swedish multinational usually surprises everyone in its Christmas campaigns with its endearing and cosy stories.
This year it tells us the story of a dachshund, with a campaign carried out in Poland that will be launched globally around the world. The advert celebrates the joy of being together with a touching story starring an adorable dachshund.
“Hej Hej Hej” is the title of the Ikea Christmas advert made by the Warsaw agency VML. The campaign is aimed at both interior design lovers and dog and pet lovers. The brand has launched a contest where they can share images of their pets enjoying Ikea furniture.
The piece tells the story of a dachshund and his favourite spot in the house: a worn-out armchair near the window. When the time comes to change it because the decorated Christmas tree is going to take its place, the dog gets sad and doesn’t want to leave his favourite spot.
In the end, the owners put a new Ikea armchair so that the dog can have his favourite spot again. In the end, we discover why the dog liked that spot so much, and it is that in the flat opposite he has another dog to look at.
According to Karolina Szabłowska, Marketing Communications Manager at IKEA Poland: “IKEA wants to encourage homes that meet both functional and emotional needs, making it easier for people to feel the Christmas spirit all year round.”
