John Lewis Christmas advert 2024: “The Gifting Hour”
The advertising campaign was designed by Saatchi & Saatchi

John Lewis’ Christmas advert closes its Christmas trilogy with the brand’s classic advert.
John Lewis’ Christmas campaigns are always a big event throughout the English-speaking world. This year they have brought everyone to their knees by launching a Christmas campaign divided into three very different parts. At the end of September they launched “The Window”, at the beginning of November they launched “Give knowingly” and now they are surprising everyone with “The Gifting Hour”.
The John Lewis Christmas advert is a beautiful time-travel story where we see how Sally tries to find the best gift for her sister. A campaign created by the agency Saatchi & Saatchi that has put the spotlight on the gift-giving season.
“The Gifting Hour” is the title of the John Lewis Christmas advert made by the agency Saatchi & Saatchi and produced by Riff Raff. It is the final part of a trilogy of adverts that the brand has launched to present its Christmas campaign.
The piece shows us how Sally searches for the perfect gift for her sister. Unwittingly, she sneaks into a magical fitting room in the John Lewis department store as if it were Narnia to begin a journey through time.
This journey will take her through all the eras of her family, and will explore the relationship she has had with her sister over time. All to find the best gift she deserves. A different approach with a more tactical than strategic component, a hallmark of the previous agency, Adam&Eve DDB, where they showed us adverts with a notable emotional charge.
The song in the John Lewis advert is called “Sonnet” and is sung by Richard Aschroft.
