The Allianz advert shows the collaboration between two birds to safeguard what matters most.

Insurance advertising campaigns are often like detergent or car ads — they appear every year in such abundance that there’s little left for creatives to say that hasn’t already been done.

Fortunately, there are always brands that manage to surprise us with emotional, spectacular, or clever campaigns. That’s the case with the latest Allianz advert, which uses the relationship between two birds to connect with our emotions.

The Allianz advert is titled “Flight of the Finch” and was created by the agency Howatson+Company, directed by Michael Gracey, known for films like “The Greatest Showman” and the Robbie Williams biopic “Better Man.” Special effects were handled by ALT VFX using advanced CGI technology.

The ad tells a story of survival, uncertainty, and hope, centered on a finch trying to save her chick from a storm that could destroy them both. At the most critical moment, when everything seems lost, an eagle appears and gently guides them to safety — all set to the song “I’m With You” by Avril Lavigne.

Shez Ford, General Manager of Consumer at Allianz Australia, stated: “We want our customers to feel supported and seen. This campaign brings the Allianz brand to life in a deeply emotional and human way.”

Meanwhile, Gavin Chimes, Creative Director at Howatson+Company, added: “We didn’t just want to talk about care — we wanted people to feel it. With a bit of courage and magic, we used storytelling to position the brand in a new space within the insurance sector.”

  1. A common redstart is not a finch, and is not an australian bird. Odd choice for an ad for Australia, just looks weirdly foreign
