Apple’s Christmas advert is dedicated to those who have been waiting all year for this moment.
Apple is one of the few brands waiting to launch their Christmas adverts just before the start of December. Escape from the maelstrom of other advertising campaigns to start the sooner the better and to extend the Christmas season to the maximum.
Normally, Apple’s Christmas commercials are usually intimate stories with their products as part of them. This time there is no product from the Cupertino company but the ad is shot with one of them, the iPhone13.
“Saving Simon” is the title of Apple’s Christmas advert. It was shot entirely on an iPhone 13 Pro and directed by Jason Reitman and his father, Ivan Reitman, both Oscar nominees.
The Apple commercial focuses on the expectation and excitement that Christmas generates in children. And he does it through the eyes of a girl who doesn’t want winter to end and wants to keep her snowman, Simon, all year long. To do this, she decides to keep it up tight in the kitchen freezer, despite all the dangers it entails.
Apple’s Christmas advert ends with a final surprise after the girl’s titanic effort to save Simon. “To the ones we’ve waited all year to be with” is the final claim of the ad, which features the song “You and I” by Valerie June as soundtrack.
