The BBDO agency has been in charge of the advertising campaign
Macy’s Christmas commercial kicks off Christmas advertising campaigns.
The American department store chain Macy’s has been the first brand to present its advertising campaign for Christmas. It kicks off a Christmas campaign that is starting earlier and earlier, just after Halloween.
Department stores take advantage of it as consumers begin Christmas shopping for Black Friday, which is celebrated on the last Friday in November. This is the case of the Macy’s chain that encourages us to give love with this fantastic advertisement.
“Hey Santa” is the title of the Macy’s Christmas commercial made by agency BBDO New York, produced by Sanctuary Content and directed by Aaron Ruell. A classic Christmas ad that features Santa Claus as a prominent figure, protagonist this year for being one of the prominent figures of the classic Thanksgiving Day parade that the brand celebrates; one of the most popular in the United States.
What is intended to be a visit by a child to deliver the letter to Santa Claus at Macy’s, turns into a search through all the departments. The little one is checking all kinds of objects that he is far from liking. He even walks through the toy section with his eyes closed. In the end we see how the little boy was looking for a gift to give to Santa Claus.
The central song of the Macy’s Christmas advertisement is the popular song “Hey Santa Claus” by The Moonglows released in 1953.
