M&S’s Christmas commercial invites us to rebel against traditions
The Mother London agency is in charge of the advertising campaign
The M&S clothing Christmas advert stars Ted Laso’s Hannah Waddingham.
Marks and Spencer is a British multinational dedicated to retail that delights us every year with an extraordinary Christmas campaign. This year, however, they invite us to rebel against traditions to the rhythm of Meat Loaf.
The M&S Christmas advert stars Hannah Waddingham, one of the protagonists of the famous Ted Laso series.
The M&S Christmas advert was made by the Mother London agency and directed by Ally Pankiw, director of “Black Mirror” among others. The “home” division of Mark and Spencer invites us to break with traditions this Christmas.
Thus, Christmas decorations, typical foods or board games give way to rebellion and celebrating the holidays however you want. The M&S Christmas spot brings together an all-star cast led by Hannah Waddingham, star of the acclaimed Ted Lasso series. We also find Sophie Ellis-Bextor or Tan France or Zawe Ashton. Known from Channel 4’s Fresh Meat, they all destroy those traditions they hate, such as writing Christmas cards, wearing party hats and playing board games. All to the rhythm of the song “Anything For Love” by Meatloaf covered by Ray BLK.
The British multinational Marks and Spencer encourages us not to stress these holidays and forget about “family traditions” that we don’t really enjoy. Let everyone celebrate Christmas in their own way and at their own pace. Thus, we see how they take away the stress of typical Christmas decorations, placing a star on the tree or family games gathered in front of the fireplace. Also board games or typical menus with meat, turkey, brussels sprouts or mince pies.
