Volkswagen’s advert is a tribute to the iconic Golf model, which turns 50 years old.
Volkswagen is one of the car brands that has the most iconic models under its belt. From the genuine Beetle to the California van. But there is another model that has had a deep impact on society and encapsulates everything good about the German brand: The Golf.
The iconic Volkswagen Golf turns 50 years old. Since it began to be marketed in 1974, it has sold more than 35 million units. To celebrate, the brand has launched an emotional campaign that reviews the history of this legendary model.
“Made by Life. Made for Life” is the title of Volkswagen’s advert celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Golf. It was made by the agencies DDB Berlin and DDB Paris and produced by Anorak.
The brand wanted to review the 50 years of the Golf, a model that had a deep impact on society in the 80s and 90s, when it became an aspirational product for young people who wanted to become independent.
All the stories they have experienced with the Golf are condensed in this advertising campaign, where the protagonists live all kinds of adventures for five decades. From their first kiss to vacations or first steps as drivers.
Volkswagen’s advert shows us life experiences to the rhythm of the song “Good Riddance” by Green Day. According to Susanne Franz, Global CMO of Volkswagen: “The Volkswagen Golf has seen many moments. It is the car that brought many new parents home from the hospital with their newborn children for the first time, the car that parents dreamed of. teenagers and the vehicle you bought when you got a promotion. Regardless of age, social classes and fashions, the Golf is that reliable friend that is always willing to go further”.
