Super Bowl 2022 commercials are rolling out now. To the bombshell of the announcement of BMW and Arnold Schwarzenegger for the Super Bowl now comes what will surely be one of the most tender announcements of the event.
This time from the hand of Kia, which will broadcast its 13th commercial without interruption in the Super Bowl. And of course, he will present the brand’s new electric model, a standard that, luckily, has already come to the industry to stay.
“Robo Dog” is the title of Kia’s Super Bowl commercial. It has been made by the David & Goliath agency and will present us with the new adorable mascot for the occasion. And it is that to make the dog of the Kia ad it took more than 1900 hours.
The story begins with a small robotic dog in a very “Apple-esque” store window. He is looking like an owner and his dog is petting each other and he is sad to have that feeling. Seeing how a man loads his brand new Kia EV6, the robotic dog launches to chase him.
To the rhythm of “Total Eclipse of the Heart” by Bonnie Tyler, the pup dodges pedestrians and vehicles to reach the car. All this persecution begins to deplete the battery of the puppy that in a last attempt, gets the reward from him.
According to Russell Wager, vice president of marketing for Kia America: “To introduce the Kia EV6 to more than 100 million viewers, we wanted to juxtapose the future with the emotions we all know and understand today: the love that can be shared between a human and a animal.”
To create the robotic dog in the Kia ad, the production team studied footage of dogs playing and interacting with a crew member’s Labrador retriever puppy. All to make Robo Dog’s movements as realistic as possible.
Kia will also launch a mobile Augmented Reality experience. Entitled “Robo Dogmented Reality” and, through a QR code scanner, Robo Dog can be seen in our homes.
