McDonalds Christmas advert: “The Gift of McDonalds”
The Leo Burnett agency was in charge of the advertising campaign

McDonald’s Christmas advert shows us a light show amidst the chaos.
Christmas adverts are in full swing and there are very few brands left to launch their campaigns. We have already seen Amazon’s Christmas advert, John Lewis’s, Sainsbury’s and many more. But there was one very special one missing for these dates: McDonald’s.
And the fact is that the Christmas campaign of the American multinational is always one of the most anticipated. Many families take advantage of the Christmas holidays to spend some time together in one of the chain’s restaurants. This time, the brand shows us the way with a Christmas light show.
“The Gift of McDonald’s” is the title of the McDonald’s Christmas advert made by the Leo Burnett agency and directed by Nicolai Fuglsig, known for being the director of the famous Sony advert: “Balls”.
The piece shows us a couple doing their Christmas chores. Bringing toys, buying decorations, preparing costumes for the school play and many other things. In the midst of all this hustle and bustle, they see a McDonald’s billboard and decide to take a break and eat at the restaurant.
On their whirlwind trip, a Christmas light show is unleashed throughout their journey. The lights of the houses, iconic characters and a huge Big Mac on a giant building. All to the rhythm of the song “Satisfaction” by Benny Benassi.
