The German brand announces the integration of AI in its new models
Volkswagen’s advert announces that the new models will come with ChatGPT integrated with a new assistant: IDA.
That artificial intelligence would end up reaching cars was a fact. The first brand to take the step was Volkswagen, which, within the framework of CES, took the opportunity to announce the integration of ChatGPT in all its models.
And it does so through an advertisement starring the famous Scottish actor Ewan McGregor, brand ambassador since 2022. The campaign shows us a fun conversation between the actor and the new artificial intelligence system, called IDA.
Volkswagen’s advert with Ewan McGregor is the brand’s presentation of the new IDA (Intelligent Digital Assistant) system. This system will be integrated into the electric models ID.3, ID.4, ID.5 and ID.7 as well as the new Golf, Passat and Tiguan.
The German company relies on artificial intelligence to control the entire infotainment system of its models. This system will be able to control navigation, air conditioning and even chat about general topics. To announce it, it has had the interpretation of Ewan McGregor, who already starred in the previous Volkswagen advert the occasion of the premiere of the Kenobi tv show.
The piece shows us how the actor asks IDA how to look for a Scottish “Kilt” for a red carpet event. At that point, the system provides you with the best site instantly. IDA will rely on multiple sources and will not depend on ChatGPT to provide information.

For this reason, we are the first automotive manufacturer to integrate ChatGPT in our vehicles; offering drivers added value and direct access to this innovative AI tool.”
